MINI ROOS U5'S - U11'S
DREAM | BELIEVE | ACHIEVE
Mini Roos offers a scaled-down version of football, tailored for boys and girls aged 5 to 11 years old, providing them with an enjoyable introduction to the world's most popular game. At Merrimac Football Club, we welcome children from all backgrounds and skill levels, fostering a positive and supportive environment for their development. Our philosophy centres on creating a space where every player can have fun, learn new skills, and forge lifelong friendships.
These age groups mark the beginning of competitive play for our young players. It's their first step into a team environment, where they engage in friendly matches against other teams. Here, they begin to grasp the fundamental principles of teamwork within a football context. It's an exciting phase where they lay the groundwork for their future growth and development in the sport.
WHAT WE FOCUS ON
At this age group, our focus is on assisting players in enhancing their technical skills. We prioritise helping them refine their individual control of the ball while also developing fundamental abilities such as passing and receiving.
As players transition into a team environment and engage in friendly matches, our aim is to cultivate their understanding of basic positioning and the core roles and responsibilities within a team. This includes introducing concepts related to Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders, and Forwards. Players will have the opportunity to experience playing in each position, allowing them to develop the specific skills required for success in different areas of the pitch.
Through this approach, we aim to nurture well-rounded players who are equipped with both individual technical proficiency and an understanding of team dynamics.
